Mongolia Updates CRC Type Approval

Mongolia’s Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) officially launched its updated ICT equipment certification rules on February 13, 2026. Approved under Resolution No. 24, the new policy upgrades the country's mandatory and voluntary compliance checks for radio and telecom devices. The reform prioritizes consumer health, eco-safety, and smart radio spectrum management, while delivering straightforward certification paths and tighter market oversight.

Mandatory Scope: Certification is mandatory for all equipment listed in the official “Mandatory Conformity Assurance Product Catalogue.” Equipment not listed may still undergo voluntary certification. This applies to: mobile and wireless devices, IoT modules, RF and telecom equipment. Certified approval is required before import, sale, or use in Mongolia.

Technical Parameters & Standards: Equipment must strictly comply with:

  • Mongolia’s National Radio Frequency Allocation / Distribution Table
  • International standards for: Radio Frequency (RF), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrical and product safety

Certificate Validity: 3 to 4 years, depending on equipment category, origin (imported, domestically manufactured, or export)

Testing, Review & Market Surveillance,  Conformity Assessment Process: Begins with documentation review. May include sample testing conducted by CRC. Test reports from accredited international laboratories are generally accepted, provided they meet CRC criteria. Required documentation includes a Local Representative's Letter of Authority (LoA), technical specifications and test reports.

Post‑Market Surveillance: Annual review is mandatory for certified products. First review occurs one year after certificate issuance. Ensures continued compliance with Mongolian requirements. Non‑compliance may result in corrective actions or certificate withdrawal

Certification Marking Requirement: Once a Certificate of Conformity is issued manufacturers are authorized and required to affix the official CRC Certification Mark to the equipment. Marking confirms legal market access and facilitates enforcement checks.

Main changes to the regulation include:

  • LoAs are now required for the local representative.
  • The Test Report validity requirement has changed from 6 years to no limit (indefinite).
  • Instead of issuing a renewed CoC every 3 years, CRC will instead issue a New Certificate every 3 years with a new issue date. The certificate number will remain the same. Renewal certificates will not have their expiration dates extended. Their issue dates will be changed to the approved date.

CRC Mongolia – Regulatory Update (Resolution No. 24 / 2026)

The Constitution of Mongolia is a landlocked country in the East Asia region. It is bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south. The population is about 3.5 mill.  The capital Ulaanbaatar is the largest city, housing roughly half of the country's population. It may also be noted that 5G network has been deployed in the country since May last year and is planned to cover 70% of the population by 2027.
